A Look Back at Casino Bowl XII

Casino Bowl XII was won by the EAST squad by a score of 27 to 7.

The first quarter was scoreless with each team placing their opponent deep in their own territory with some excellent punting by Mark Means of the Penn-Ohio Raiders and Jason Kelly of the Louisiana Eagles.  The West team scored the first TD of the game with 9:58 left in the second quarter.  Deon Morris (St. Louis Bulldogs) scored on a 15 yard run-option after a short toss from QB Willie Staple (Twin Cities Lumberjacks).  The PAT by Jason Kelly was good.  The score was 7–0.

The next score came with just 35 seconds left in the half.  West QB Staple was scrambling when he was hit hard and fumbled.  Dave Fernando (Charlestown Townies) grabbed the ball and went 25 yards for the TD.  Steve Moser (Penn-Ohio Raiders) kicked the PAT.  Halftime score was 7–7.

The 3rd quarter featured one score with 5:51 remaining.  The East team’s Sylvester Cooperwood (Albany Metro Maulers) scored on a 1 yard run.  Steve Moser was successful with the PAT.  Score East 14, West 7 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

The East team scored twice in the 4th quarter.  With 10:35 left, QB Lamont Baker (Baltimore Warriors) found Anthony Long (Cedar Valley Vikings) in the corner of the end zone for a 27 yard TD.  Moser converted the PAT.

The final score came with 1:04 left in the game as QB Lamont Baker scored on a 1 yard QB sneak.  A bad snap prohibited the PAT.  Final score was 27-7.
