National Football Events Selects Rudy Wyland 2009 “Man of the Year”

Rudy Wyland, executive director and head coach of Team USA and publisher of Minor League Football News, has been named as “Man of the Year” 2009 by National Football Events. Mr. Wyland will be honored at Casino Bowl XIV on Friday, March 20, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Tropicana Hotel. The 2009 Casino Bowl game will be played on Saturday, March 21.

Rudy Wyland has organized nineteen Team USA football games internationally with Great Britain, Austria, Italy, France, Germany, Norway, Mexico, the Czech Republic and Canada. As head of MLFN, Mr. Wyland promotes Minor League Football with Top 50 rankings, an active Hall of Fame, All American Awards and is instrumental in selecting a consensus National Champion Team.

Tournaments and Bowl Games - Updates and Recaps

Mid States Football Tournament XII
The MSFT featured 8 teams from 4 leagues and 1 independent team. The Tournament was won by the WAUWATOSA (WI) SPARTANS of the IRONMAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE. They have accepted a bid to NATIONAL BOWL WEEKEND in January in Florida in pursuit of a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

USFA Harvest Bowl XII
The Harvest Bowl featured 4 league champions. The tournament was won by the ALBANY (NY) METRO MALLERS. They have accepted a bid to play the METRO BOWL Champions for the 20th Annual USFA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP during NATIONAL BOWL WEEKEND.

USFA Metro Bowl IV
The Metro Bowl Tournament was won by the PRINCE WM (VA) MONARCHS, The tournament featured the finest teams in the Mid Atlantic region.The Monarchs have accepted a bid to meet the USFA HARVEST BOWL Champions in pursuit of the 20th Annual USFA CHAMPIONSHIP during NATIONAL BOWL WEEKEND.

USFA Southeast Tournament
The Southeastern Tournament was won by the HENRY COUNTY (GA) HORSEMEN of the United South League. The Horsemen have accepted a bid to meet the Mid States Football Tournament Champions for a National Championship in Deland, Florida during NATIONAL BOWL WEEKEND on January 17-18, 2009.

All American Bowl
The 12th Annual All American Bowl was played in the Metro Dome (home of the MN Vikings). The game featured All Star players from various semi-pro teams and some quality NCAA Division II & Division III players. A game story can be read at www.allamericanbowl.com

AFN/NFE Championship Game
The West Virginia Lightning, undefeated Champions of the United States Football Association, were hosts to the North East Missouri Cyclones, the undefeated Champions of the Great Midwest Football League. This was a hard fought battle between champions of two large, quality football leagues. The Lightning won by a score of 18 to 15.
