On Friday, April 4, 2003, Pudgie Walsh will be recognized and honored by National Football Events as “Man of the Year 2003” at this year’s Casino Bowl VIII in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Coach Walsh has been the head coach of the Brooklyn Mariners since 1957 and has posted a fantastic 484-82-12 record. In addition to coaching the Mariners, Coach Walsh also coached the New York City firefighter’s team, New York’s Bravest. Pudgie Walsh is a retired NYC firefighter who retired in 1996 after thirty-nine years of service.
His life-long accomplishments include a career that has encompassed dedication to his vocation, family and semi-pro football. Pudgie resides in NYC with his wife Catherine and does some motivational speaking. Those who have heard Coach Walsh speak before, will be excited to hear him talk about some very special highlights, memories and reflections, especially on the circumstances of 9/11/01.
